What is UCAS Extra?
Follow our easy guide to unpack the riddle of UCAS Extra…
Who can apply through Extra?
If you’ve received decisions from all five universities or colleges and weren’t accepted, or if you declined the offers you received, you can apply through UCAS Extra.
If you haven’t used all five choices yet, you can add more in Track if it’s before 30 June and you’ve not accepted or declined any offers.
If you are eligible to apply via UCAS Extra, it’ll show up as a button when you sign in to track your application.
How do you apply through Extra?
There are a few steps to applying:
1. Use the UCAS search tool to find courses that have places available in Extra.
2. If you can’t find the exact course you’re looking for, maybe think about related or alternative subjects to your chosen one.
3. Contact the university or college to check they will consider you and to ask any questions you have. You can contact UoN at 0300 303 2772 or study@northampton.ac.uk.
4. Add the course details into Track. If you’re applying for a different subject, you may want to send a new personal statement to the university or college to strengthen your application.
What next?
If you’re offered a place for a course you want, all you have to do is accept it on Track.
You’ll have to accept your offer within the time given on Track, and once you accept it, you’ll be committed to that course, so you can’t apply to any more in Extra.
If you do not receive an offer within 21 days, you can add a different choice. Remember it might take universities and colleges longer than 21 days to reply though, they actually have until midnight on 13 July to make their decisions.
