I chose to study at the University of Northampton after attending an open day where I spoke with students and course lecturers. Everyone was so friendly and passionate about what they taught which really drew me in. I also chose the University of Northampton for the teaching style as I preferred the smaller class sizes and more personal learning. I have found this to be a really helpful part of my education as, in comparison to other universities, it allows for a more personal conversation and questions can be answered in every session. I am also able to work closely with my peers as we have a more personal class size.

I wanted to study psychology because I plan to continue studying after my undergraduate degree to become a clinical psychologist. I have a huge interest in mental health and I aim to spread more knowledge about mental health disorders especially those that are less talked about. I believe the course will help me to achieve my career goal as it is giving me valuable research experience along with interesting and engaging lectures. The course is BPS accredited which means I can go on to get my professional qualifications.

There are so many different things that I enjoy about my course but something that really stands out is the activities put on by the lecturers. Each Christmas we have organised a psychology Christmas quiz which brings students from all years together to have fun while getting a little bit competitive. The psychology team also run Psych in the Pub which is a great evening full of laughs along with a healthy debate.

If you are considering the University of Northampton to study psychology, talk to the course team along with current students as this will give you a true feel of the university and the community feel we all have. The campus is beautiful so take a walk around and enjoy the views while taking in the atmosphere around campus and have a look around the psychology department, there is some great equipment for research. If you have a chance attend a discovery day where you can meet some of the lecturers and get involved in some psychological activities.
