Northampton The Welly Road: A Tourist’s Guide
Matthew and Harry from the Social Media team explore Northampton based on recommendations from our students. First stop: The Welly Road.
To kick things off we went to The Abington. A classic pub with classic pub food. Karaoke on a Friday and a band playing on the last Saturday of each month. Matthew went for the classic hit ‘YMCA’ which was well received initially, however we were asked to leave after a while as he could only remember how to do the ‘A’.
The Crown and Cushion. They have karaoke every Sunday night and a pub quiz every Thursday night from 8.30. The pool table is amazing and the atmosphere is great too. This is Harry pretending to drink his phone. A popular pose or so I am told…
Sir Pickering Phipps. A spacious pub with a traditional-yet-modern style. Sport fans can watch their favourite game with the full HD Sky coverage. Does anyone else notice a gold sign name theme on this street!?
The lighthouse offers craft beer, classic fish & chips and live sports. Here is our ‘I just spilled my pint!’ pose.
Who is that old man standing in front of the Old House? Oh, it’s just Matthew. This pub has a very modern and sophisticated feel to it. If you like Prosecco they do buy 1 get 1 free on Wednesdays.
Have you ever embraced yourself in public? The Gardeners Arms offers a draft discount on a monthly basis as well as having live bands, pool and traditional Northampton skittles! Well worth a visit.
If you’re into your music then Fiddler’s is a great choice. They have a mixture of live bands, karaoke and disco’s.
BONUS
The White Elephant do amazing pizzas and have a couple of great pool tables. They also show live sports.
Check out the rare birds in the Abington Park. They even have an albino peacock!
