We all know the mantra “New Year, New You” however there has been an interesting shift into focusing on what you have — rather than what you need to change in your life.

We’ve crafted some tips on how to be the most positive you.

Practise gratitude

Start with a circle in the middle of the page, and then write everything you are grateful for, as small and simple they may seem, you can still be thankful for them.

This might seem silly, but it really helps you put into perspective all the things you should feel good about.

Clear out the trash

This could be metaphorical, or literal.

Get rid of everything in your life that you do not need, or that doesn’t make you happy.

Set goals

Setting goals for 2019 can be a great way to re-focus after Christmas, it could be a small or a large milestone but make sure you set a time limit.

It also helps to have visuals — so you don’t lose sight of your aims!

Inhale in positivity, exhale negativity

Get out and about in nature, go for walks in the park. And, breathe in for the count of six — and breathe out for a count of eight.

Talk nicely to yourself

The biggest source of negativity — can sometimes be you. Remember you’re in control of how you feel. Speak nicely to yourself.

And if all the above doesn’t work, put on your favourite song, and sing at the top of your voice.
