With graduation just around the corner, you might be wondering what happens during your ceremony and what you need to do. So we have put together a handy step-by-step guide to help:

Make sure you follow our Alumni social networks so you can share all your incredible graduation pics!

Enter Auditorium

This is the auditorium!

Turn off mobile devices (or put them on silent)

Your name card is located on the back of your chair.

Big cards — you won’t miss them!

Remove and keep for later in the ceremony.

Stand when music starts to play

The procession will enter at this time

Have your name card ready when approaching the stage.

Hand your name card to the nominated member of staff

So they know who you are!

Wait until your name is read out.

Walk across to the presiding officer and shake hands

Smile! You’ll be on camera

Proceed across the stage to collect your certificate

Well done you!

Return to your seat

Please be respectful and quiet for others receiving their certificates

Let them have their moment!

At the end of the ceremony stand for the National Anthem

Exit auditorium in an orderly fashion

Enjoy yourselves and congratulations!

Be aware of falling caps!

Good luck with all that you do in the future.

Just because you’ve completed your studies at the University it doesn’t mean we’ve stopped caring! There’s loads of support still available to you so do keep in touch and if you have any questions or just want to remain part of the community join our Alumni groups.

Find us on Facebook Twitter and Instagram

Miss you already!
