  1. If you only remember to write one thing down before you leave for your first day make it your 8 digit student number as you will need it for enrolment. Also, do not forget your passport or driving licence as well as a bank card or similar. Check the Getting Started guide for the full list of things to bring.

2. Keep up-to-date with the transport links around the town centre. So if it is raining you can hope on the UNO buses for just a £1 return with your student card. You can keep an eye on times via Twitter.

3. Get used to your surroundings by exploring the campus — the signs at every corner are fantastic if we do say so ourselves… so you shouldn’t be lost for too long. If that fails, follow everyone else.

4. Check your timetable. Timing is everything…

Download the MyNorthampton app to ensure you have a map and timetable on you at all times!

5. Get over to the Union Day. There will be tons of information and the option to join societies and make friends.

6. Sign up with your local GP or the Waterside Health Centre on campus. Nothing is more important than your physical and mental health. Once you’re signed up it’s something you don’t need to worry about again unless you’re poorly.

Do not forget to have fun and make new friends! If you’ve got any problems during your time please contact us through Twitter @uninorthants or join our dedicated New Student group on Facebook.
