Fashion Marketing graduate put her skills into practice at Graduate Fashion Week
Fashion Marketing graduate, Leanne shares her experiences working as Marketing and Social Media Assistant at The University of Northampton:
I graduated from The University of Northampton in 2014, with a 2:1 in Fashion Marketing. I always had an interest in Fashion but after completing my degree, I was keen to get my hands on any marketing experience that I could.
Working at the University as a Marketing and Social Media Assistant has opened up so many opportunities.
I have loved coming back to the University as a member of staff. It’s nice to use my experiences to help others. I’ve been so fortunate to get involved with various events and to work alongside my old lecturers.
Graduate Fashion Week is definitely a highlight of working at The University of Northampton!
This is my second year supporting the marketing of the University’s Catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week. It’s been an exciting and fun project to work on. This year I had more involvement with Social Media, taking over the University’s Instagram account and creating my own content.
Leading up to the event, I’ve had the chance to get to know the designers and their collections. Seeing their finished designs strut down the catwalk made me feel so proud.
I have also had the opportunity to work with current Fashion Marketing students at their fashion show, U&I. It gave me a real buzz and brought back so many memories from when my cohort organised our fashion show, Sweet Dreams in 2013. I really enjoyed sharing this experience with them!
Although my job isn’t directly linked to fashion, I’ve still been able to use the knowledge and skills that I developed from BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing. The career opportunities are endless because you learn so much about the different aspects of Fashion and Marketing.
