Northamptonshire is a nice, quiet, picturesque place and I never realised the fact as much as I did this weekend. The weekend was packed with wonderful things to do and I realised that the itinerary is definitely worth sharing.
Saturday
- Sleep in till 11 am (It’s a Saturday after all)
- Have no plans forthe day as you wake up
- Receive a message from friends to have lunch (what better than a day off from cooking)
- Take your own sweet time to get ready after a sumptuous breakfast
- Meet friends for lunch in the town centre
- Have a delicious, (almost) authentic Indian meal
- Have a walk around the market place (most probably not buying anything)
- Wander around a bit more, and more, and more…
- End up going to the shoe museum (a delight for a shoe lover like me)
- Guide yourself through the museum getting to know so much about…. shoes(of course) as well as the history of Northampton
- Head back
- Have a nice relaxing evening
Sunday
- Look outside the window to realise that there is always bright sunshine after the rain (metaphorically and literally)
- Make the wise decision of what to wear since you have been invited to have lunch with a wonderful family
- Meet them and appreciate the fact how welcoming each member is
- Find out how similar our families are in the first 10 minutes of talking to them even though you have never met them before
- Enjoy a satisfying British lunch with a glass of wine at Cromwell Cottage in Kislingbury (the roasted vegetable might be a dish you would probably order if you are a vegetarian, and it tastes mighty fine)
- After being so full from the lunch it’s time to go for a walk
- The canal in Stoke Bruerne is a sight and when you have great company it is almost like you don’t want to head back home.
- After a fun enthused afternoon with loving people it’s finally time to get back home.
This weekend for me was such a great way to unwind from the previous week and to be prepared for the next week. As an international student I feel so blessed to have met such wonderful people here.
