1. Being worried about Money

It is no secret that students are not living the lifestyle of a Kardashian and money troubles can easily take over your thoughts. Do not fear the superheroes in the financial guidance team are here to help you.

They can provide information regarding different funding options which may be available to you, which you never even knew about. Drop them an email, give them call or pop in and see then in the student centre.

2) Thinking about all your Assignments next term:

After the Christmas deadlines and assignments you had a chance to relax, eat some mince pies and work seemed like a million miles away. Now your due to come back and the realisation that more assignments are ahead has fully sunk in.

Don’t panic, breath. You got this. You pulled it out the bag last term and we have faith that you can do it again. Just make sure you plan your time well, speak to your course tutors if you are struggling or visit the ASSIST team if you are suffering from any conditions which may be impacting your studies.

3) Finding Accommodation

You may have just got used to living in halls, the community feel, the parties and the ease of having no extra bills to pay. The thought of having to move into private sector accommodation for your 2nd year is daunting sometimes. You need to find a house which all your housemates like, reasonably priced and in a good location.

We have put together a handy blog with tips to make your house hunting easier. If you are still anxious about this after reading through this then give Madie a call (she is a lovely lady who works helps student find private sector accommodation)

4) I don’t get on with my flatmates

It is impossible to get along with everyone that’s just life, but when you have to live with someone who really grinds your gears it isn’t fun. So it can be tempting to stay in your hometown with your family where you get on with everyone.

The trick is to look outside of your flat for friendship groups, your course, societies and work can all provide great opportunities to meet like-minded people. These are the people you are more likely to click with and cement long lasting friendships with.

5) I’m Missing Home :(

Homesickness is awful; it affects most of us at some point in our lives. It may be even more dominating when you return after Christmas due to the fact you have spent a few weeks back at home getting sucked back into the comforts of home.

Fight the beast that is homesickness, you did it when you first joined us so you can do it again, we know you can! One way to defeat it is by reading our homesickness blog.

Most importantly never forget we are always here to help and support you. Get involved and join our Facebook page.
